Small Upgrades For Your Yacht

There are little upgrades that you can have done to improve not only your yachts appearance, although i’m sure it’s pretty spectacular,as well as protect your inside living space from the heat of the sun, especially when it is reflecting off the water on a sunny hot day!  We talked to a friend of mine at, and asked him to give us the low down on the benefits of sliding glass doors for your yacht, over a french style door. This is what we found out:

Sliding Glass Doors- A sliding door is made up of 2 parts, a fixed panel & a sliding panel.  They are equipped with a multi-point locking system making them secure and durable. They are usually made with tempered glass (breaks into smaller pieces for safety) as well as reflective glass to allow for less heat exposure from sunlight. They are also a better choice than French doors for these reasons:

  • Narrower Frames allowing for more natural light
  • Less expensive
  • Better insulation from both heat/cold
  • Take up less floor space/ don’t affect furniture placement
  • Open up the living space w/o losing floor space

French Doors- French doors open and close on hinges, like that of a real door.  They allow for a widespace should you want to keep the doors open. They are equipped with a multi-point locking system as well.  While French doors are very pleasing on the eye, they have a few down falls

  • Take up more floor space
  • Furniture must be arranged aroundallowing for opening
  • More expensive

Sliding glass doors for your yacht seem the most logical , especially being with the smaller space you have to work with.  French doors are beautful however espevially when trying to open up the inside living space with a little extra class.  In short updating your doors on your yacht will allow for a fresh, clean appearance and does wonder for the exterior of the boat while not doing any to major of a project.
